GDG and I were just talking about the Rez, we got some time off now and are trying to decide when and where to go. The extended forecast looks good, gonna be cold but stable weather for the next few days.

I have some time off also. I am trying to decide between the Rez, eagle lake or Chotard

If you find them on the rez please tell. I have been 3 times in the last month and caught only 1 fish. I have resorted to deer hunting as well. I'm ready for the spawn, i know where to find them then. I suck at fall/winter fishing.

I caught a few a week or so ago. No real good ones, just keepers is all.

Next big rain we get and put some current in the river channel should put them in the old lake beds off of the river channel pretty thick I would guess. I am chompin at the bits to get down there and try them and I see a trip in the very near future lol.

On the Rez, what are the names of the old lake beds? I have lived in Madison for 2 years now and am doing my best to learn the rez. Only lake I have found is Long Lake. When the current gets swift will the fish come there or do the stick close to the river like at the welfare hole and back toward sade harbor.
I have not explored past the S-curve. I tried going out into what I thought was an old lake right past the s curve to the left but i got into so many stumps that were just under the water i did good to get out of there.
I've always heard of places like 3 Prong and Oil Well Woods but dont know where they are.

Macpappy, get one of those lake maps from Walmart. They have a few on there. Clear lake is a good place at times. Old number 7 is a good place too. If you have time, you can run by the PRV main office up near Cock of the Walk and get one of their maps. They have a great one
