It may just be me but I have always seemed to do better with hair jigs once the water temp drops over plastics or Maraibu. Whether single poling or spider rigging.

1/8th oz hair jig on the top and a gnat on bottom works really good in the winter months and add minners

I tie my own fish hair jigs and like them better then anything. But still add a minnow at times. Will be tying up a lot more ASAP, as I got in $400. worth of fish hair a week or so ago. But man its a job getting that hair off the fish.
