Sardis this time of year
I'm taking the day off work and fishing Sardis tomorrow. Any thoughts on where I should start looking for fish? What types of areas will they tend to be in this time of year? I've only fished for crappie twice at Sardis, and I suck at crappie fishing in general so I'm just looking for some ideas. Plan A is to put in at Engineers point and maybe start checking creek mouths or the river channel...but this is all just a hunch...I've got no idea where they might be.
I'll be spider rigging with double minnow rigs. I've been trying to catch them at Pickwick and have had no luck. I think I might hold the record for most hours fished with a spider rig and no crappie.

Sardis this time of year
Ask Torch. He has em dialed in. They caught theirs shallow. 6-12' of water. Caught ours in 7' but for some reason, they left our spot. Second place caught their fish at Lespadeza in 8-12'. Cole Point put the fish out along the River channel in deeper water, but we wasted too much time in our first hole. Watch fishing to deep around the channels, the cats will wear ya out. We caught our deeper fish about 10-11 deep in 16-20' of water. Fish above the cats. :-)
Fish along the channels not in them. Like I said, the cats will wear you out IN the channels if ya fish too deep.

Thanks Bill. I wish I had checked this post before I got on the water. I fished the main channel from 11 AM til dark with double minnow rigs and I caught...nothing. Not a single fish of any type in 6 hours of spider rigging.
The forecast was for a sunny 65 degree day with 10 MPH winds. None of that happened. I don't know that the wind blew as SLOW as 10 MPH until 3 PM...and then it started to rain. I think the weatherman should be beaten with a sack of 1/2 ounce weights.
