    Post Question on Braided Line

Has anyone used any of the indicator braided line that is available now for pulling Crank Baits. Line types are Tuff-Line XP indicator and Power Pro Depth Hunter. I was thinking about trying some in either the 15lb or 20lb class. Would like to hear from some of the experts out there that may be using it now or have tried it. Is it worth pursing or should I stay with the mono?

Mono. Wind knots are just devastating and the line is expensive. Indication is every so many feet it changes among several colors. I can see it being easy to confuse how many color changes to achieve so many feet.

15lb mono. Ande Envy Green. I also use it jigging and pushing minnows. Very nice. I've pulled in some big cats, big largemouth, and double hook ups on white bass. Every time you start your fishing for the day inspect your lines for nicks it happens. Cut and re tie. Won't go wrong and won't go back to anything else. My opinion on the subject.

Yep. Re-tie. Rees and I lost 4 Bandits last week and I am convinced it was because of damaged line near the knot. Catfish will chew your mono line like crazy when you catch them!!!!

Suffix 832 and power pro slick 8 are much tamer braids.

I think it's a viable, less expensive, and more versatile option than line counters. People deep drop in saltwater with indicator lines all of the time and run down 200'+. As long as you can count to 18, I don't see how it wouldn't get you in the ballpark and that's about all you can ask for. Even with line counters, you're still going to do some fine tuning. Further, braid trolls better anyway. If you're worried about losing lures due to nicks and frays, tie about ten feet of flouro on the end of your line with a palomar knot and replace as needed.

This from a guy named "Wind Knot". Bwahahahahaha.

I'll bet the new treated braids mentioned above are much better but haven't tried them.

What ever you like. With any line there a trade off. Yes, mono will fail more often, but it's cheap and highly reliable, plus it has some give which helps to keep the fish hooked up. Braid lasts forever and is smaller diameter for less drag and deeper runs with less line out, but one or two complete respools will kick you in the pants.

What evs. It all works. Just use what works for you.

Man, I have some braid that's all white and hard to tie because it's so limp the knot sort of collapses on my saltwater gear.

Correction on the braid to flouro knot. I said Palomar. Use an Albright. First cup of coffee the first time around.

They gonna need another option on that knot around here...I don't think many could figure out an "all bright". Granny maybe?
