    Default Advice for a newbie

I am new to fishing, and have never fished for crappie before. I live south of Enid Lake and plan to start there. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to share some of the most basic information with me? When to fish (friends from Missouri say I can only catch them in the spring - but pictures I have seen on this site prove them wrong), bait, etc.? Anything you are willing to share would be appreciated.

Right now....launch at Cossar State park and pull crankbaits.....bandit 300's at 1.8 mph in the open water. Look at the top of the page and click on the crankbaits 101 thread and start reading.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Drop a few double minnow rigs out and let the wind move ya. You will catch some (not a lot) but that is pretty basic.

On my own, bank fishing. I am trying to find a boat rental in the area, and will sometimes be camping at the park with friends who will have a boat.
