    Default cranks or jigs?

I read that pulling cranks is really effective in the summer...but can trolling with jigs still get it done this time of year? Are cranks more effective now because the crappie are in deeper water and you can cover more ground with them?

My wife and I just got into crappie fishing in june. Pulling bandits took the learning curve almost out of the equation. We continued to read, listen and figure out what we could while on the water. Our success continued to climb until yesterday we got our limits pullin bandits. Much in thanks to this forum.

I don't know what we will do when the water temp drops. Never jigged a thing in my life.

Is there a trick to trolling minnows this time of year? I rigged up to push jigs this year and don't want to spend the money to buy a bunch of crank-pulling gear if I can still catch a few with my spider rig setup.

Drink lots of water and get an umbrella. Don't expect to catch as many, but when you find them they'll bite.

Should be able to catch them pulling bigger jig heads/bodies and almost as fast. Just not a chart to help yet. Try 1/8 and 1/4 oz heads and 3" grubs. Just got to adjust line out till come up with a pattern.
