Default Two questions on tipping jigs with minnows

    1) Do you tip your jigs with minnows when long-lining or is it too fast for minnows. Are they effective at that speed?

    2) When Spider-rigging, do you also tip your hair and marabou jigs? Seems they would get kinda messy.

I don't use minnows now, but years ago I used to tip a jig with a minner when longlining, and caught fish. If using hair jigs, I sometimes tip 'em with a panfish assassin or something similar for some extra action or when looking for something to get a strike. don't be afraid to try something outside the box.

Never tried it long lining think you would have trouble keeping them on. Always tip jigs with minnow spider rigging. Plastic, hair or feathers. Nothing messy about it. They getting a bath anyway

Default Two questions on tipping jigs with minnows

I've had better luck using crappie nibbles when spider rigging with hair jigs. I never use minnows on my home lake of Okatibbee but I use them when I fish the Big Four.

nope, don't remember having trouble with the minners coming off except when a fish took 'em.

If you long line and tip, will the extra drag from the minnow not affect the depth of the jig? Don't know from experience just seems logical. Call me a dummy if I'm bein one

probably would affect the depth to some extent now that you mention but never thought of it before. Probably not much as I usually use the small panfish assassins when I do tip the hair jigs. thanks for mentioning that tho, something to try and remember when I do the next time.
