Trollers are gewbers. Single polers are gewbers. Crankbaiters are gewbers. See, we're all the same.

Oh if it was only that simple.

It's amazing to me that some single polers hate Trollers so much yet better than 50% of them come June will be at Sardis pulling cranks until the mid Sept. And if your a spawn fisherman we ain't even fishing the same water.

Thanks to Stan, Chaney and all the others who attended the meeting.

Yep, that's it. I get a limit every single time that way, I'm pretty sure every other troller does too. I wish.

    You have to:
    - figure out the depth

    - the speed

    - the color

    - manage the wind

    - learn how to see the bite - which is probably about 75% of the equation on spider rigging and side pulling - not so much on the longlining methods. You try this once or twice with somebody who knows what they are doing and you will understand the importance of this part quick.

    - have a plan b for when the "wad of boats" method isn't working, which is most of the time in my experience

    - learn the secret handshake

    - put more than 2 feet of line on your pole

    - swear to hate single polers and make jokes about them whenever possible: How many single polers does it take to catch a limit of crappie? 20 if they are Wannabe

Seriously, it has been said on here many times and it's still true today, trolling is not a magic method, you get skunked just as much trolling as you do single poling. With a single pole, you are holding your bait in a prime location every time you drop it in there, right in the juice every time. With trolling, yes, you are covering water with multiple poles out, but you are out of the strike zone probably over 75% of the time most days, even if you are doing it right, and controlling all of the variables listed above. When you hit the fish right with either method, you can load the boat quick, or you can go home empty handed, that is just how it is. If it was easy, we would probably all get bored with it and start playing golf or something.

You see the pictures on here when people are catching limits, but you don't see pictures of all of the days we all go out and get skunked or catch 1 or 5 or 10, which is happening way more often than the big limit days, whatever method you are using. Or maybe it's just me.
It's all over but the fryin'......

Personally, I love it all!!! If you dedicate yourself to just one method, you are missing about 75% of the fun. I love to feel a thump on my 11 foot B&M Ultalite Jigpole. Its like someone punches me in the arm everytime a slab hits it. I troll more than anything. Its the most efficient way to locate and catch pre spawn and post spawn fish. I cut my teeth pitching a jig under a float and that is still one of my most favorite methods. Then crank baits in the summer cant be beat. I love doing all of it.

I have tried it. I am not so stubborn on tournament day and will use the most effective measure to bring in the highest weight. I do know what I am talking about. Yea, I used alot of knowledge learned from single poling that maybe some folks don't use trolling. Maybe it's just me. I do not hate you. I don't hate anybody on the water. Some people are hard to understand like the the guy who ties off to a the top I just left just because I caught a fish out of it. I have best friends that troll and I give them a hard time too.
