Thread: minners vs. jigs

seems like minners win in this catagory by reading this forum.just like a bunch of others,I'm heading down to Sardis next week and it's been so long since I've used a minner I don't remember how.do you all catch any on jigs down there?Has anyone been catching any up in the stumps yet?Is there a hospital close by in case I hook a 3 # fish cause I'll probally will have a heart attack if I do.Never seen one that big up here in Mo.,caught a 2.55 # once and thought I had a giant.,and it was in Oklahoma.Don't want a cooler full,just 1 to look at on the wall.:D:D

I usually use jigs for single pole, most of the time you will be OK at Sardis that way, Blk/Ch is a good starting point. If they aren't hitting the jig you can tip it w/ a minnow or go to a slip cork rig.

You would be better off buying a couple of the pre-tied Capps and Coleman double minnow rigs and use straight minnows.

What yikees said......then you can take a look at how the rig is tied and tie your own next time.

They will hit a minnow jig combo pretty good if its the right jig(ask yikes) best bet is sraight minners.

fish have not been hitting jigs for us lately..........at sardis or grenada..............we even tried road runners, we caught a lot of fish on them last year, but not this year. even a jig tipped with a minnow has not done well. it's strange, really.

Minnows seem popular this year so far, I have tried many variations of jigs as well, caught fish with both even minnow tipped. Try em' all
