Talking when it rains it pours

I just bought a used pro 17 and fished it for the second time on grenada yesterday. the speeds on the tm quit and would only run on high. just found out its the speed coils not the switch. I've been partial to hand control for single polling and was curious if any one uses hand control for spider rigging. wb was that a shot across my bow or dd's lol

Wait a second....2 questions in the same day? Say, you ain't kin to Maachuu are ya?

I had a hand control on a little boat. Liked it, but at times wanted a foot control. Switched to a cable steer foot control and I liked it, but at times wanted a foot control. Switched to a PD with Autopilot and liked it, but at times wished I'd had a hand control or a cable steer. Switched to a Terrova with Ipilot and liked it, but at time wished I had a hand control or a cable steer foot control.

See where I'm going with this? Any one of 'em will work, but are not perfect for everything. If you only single pole with 1 pole at a time, the hand control is the way to go....that being said, you're obviously getting interested in spider rigging, therefore, a foot control is the way to go. If you're going foot control, go with a variable speed 0-100% not a 5 speed. Trouble is spider rigging, you're working so many rods and when you get a fish or rebait or get tangled, you really need both your hands in order to take care of bidness. If it weren't for that, hand control would be fine, but with a bunch of rods out, it seems you're always needing them hands.

If you can swing it, The Terrova with Ipilot is awesome.....except maybe for heavy cover single poling, but I think the benefits otherwise outway the negatives.

Also got a 24V 65# Minn Kota Maxxum I'm selling for $300 that would be just about perfect for your boat.

BTW, it was not "A" shot accross either bow....it was poppin' 2 gewbers with 1 shot.

Oh and if you're mechanically inclined, you can get the parts from here to do the repair on your motor. Might be worth the savings if you like what you've got and the parts aren't too high.

The troubles you've got is pretty common and he can prolly help you out over the phone to diagnose and get you the right parts.
