    Default Crankbait Question

I fish two "down" crankbait poles in front of boat with 2oz weight. I use 12' poles with them straight out on each side of boat. I use 3-4 feet of leader between the weight and the crankbait. All line is 10lb test. Does anyone have info on the depth the crank is running with various amounts of line out? I'd be particularly interested in knowing how deep the crank is running at 2mph with 30', 35' and 40' of line out. The down poles usually outfish the poles in the back of boat and I'm guessing that the depth is about 1/2 of the line length but never played with this to figure it out.

    Thanks...CD

i think at 40 ft. of line out, its running around 17 ft. deep when i tinkered with it. we will be trolling fine in 20+ ft. of water, when we hit 17-18 ft. of water, line starts dragging bottom. that's around 1.6 mph.
