That's it, I give up, this thread will NEVER DIE. I'll see to it myself.

OK, we've covered Rods, line, holders, reels, bandits and pretty much talked bad about all the gewbers around here.

    Let's talk about pulling non-bandits.

I have a box chuck full of non-bandits but really only experimented with 1 thoroughly and tried a few others a little. The one I did have success on was a Fat Free Fingerling by Bomber. Seems to run a tad deeper and have a wider wobble. Basically, a firetiger and a brow/red are the only colors I have. I also ran some Poe's Cedar Shads and some Norman DLNs but didn't have much luck with them, although I didn't give 'em much of a fair shake.

One other thing I ran this year was a Storm Swim bait - 4". Huge! Not a big producer, but I did manage some of my best fish on 'em. Down side is one single hook + 2 ounce weight (running off the front) + larger fish = about a 50% land ratio.

I know Torch claims to run "stick baits" of which I've never actually seen a pic of and Yikes has a couple of "speshuls" he likes to run. Duckhunter is a fan of DLNs. So, what else ya'll running out there?

I know some folks that run the lipless crankbaits and do good with them. Rattletraps etc. Some like the smaller size ones and others claim that the big ones will catch bigger fish. I don't know but I am going to try it.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I catch most of my fish on wally marshall cranks. Good product with red hooks. I almost always catch more on the wm cranks than bandits when running them together. I've had a fair amount of success with the DLNs. They're a bit larger and tend to catch the bigger crappie. They run a bit deeper than the wm and bandit cranks with a given amount of line out.

WB- I agree on the Storm Wild Eye swim baits. A friend turned me onto swim baits this last summer. I bought a slew of them in 3" size baby bass color on clearance at Gander Mountain and did really well with them just casting. Most hits came while counting the lure down as it fell (I've never tried them trolling, were only allowed two poles per person in Illinois and just doesn't seem worth the trouble right now). I too caught my biggest crappie on them (not big by Mississippi standards, but really good sized in my neck of the woods). Evidence attached.

Ok, now I have the red hooks on the end of my bandits, 200's and 300'. Also put the 10lb highvis stren that WB insisted that I use on two of the Okuma's. Now, what do I do the all there trebel hooks that I took off?

Speaking of Storm baits, Storm has reintroduced the Thin Fin again this year. I've never used them for crappie, but several years ago while trolling for walleye on Rainy Lake in Minnesota I couldn't keep the walleye off the line the whole week we fished. My buddy I was fishing hardly caught anything with the baits he was using. I just had two of the lures (both blue and chrome color) and we looked at every bait shop in the area for more and could not find one, Storm had discontinued them. Got back home to Illinois and looked all over for them and bought all I could find (3). I'm really glad they brought them back this year because they were real fish catchers. The Thin Fin is a shallow running bait, about 3'-5' I think(they may have an 8' running model now but not sure), but gotta think they would be real good for crappie, to me they really look like a shad.

Just hang on to 'em Maj. Make spares or if you happen to pick up some used ones that need to be replaced. Pretty easy to booger one up on a Catfish too.
