I would have to say Color matters the most.

Yep........I agree with wilbur....color counts and they will hit one color early in the morning and when the mid morning sun starts putting more light in the water.....you will more than likely have to change colors as they will quit hitting the one you started catching them on earlier.

ok just wondering never have pulled cranks since it cost so muchh and since i dont hahve my own boatLOL

Yeah I've pulled in March (and Nov) but was curious about Dec-Feb. I know others are long-lining in the winter, why not pull?

Major,,,I am back,,finished reading this post as a update to this upcoming season of fishing in Indiana,,and ready to rock the crappies again,,still have a few fish in the freezer,,putting the boat together from winter storage,,and ready to go as water temp in southern Indiana is cracking 40 degrees,,and will start my crankin as soon as everything is ready.. Will keep you posted..but will be another great year of cranking. Good luck to all that reads this post!

Thanks for the update Cevans, I'm getting pumped for pulling season too, maybe this weekend in the Lake Washington FJ tourney.

I use 30-8 power pro line but where I troll there is alot of structure that loves to eat crank baits. If I fished the Big 4 all the time I would use 10 lb mono like slab said.
