Know some folks that remove the front hook when fishing around alot of stumps to reduce hangups, havent heard them complain about the action of the bait. Might try cutting the lower hook on the front treble.

Read the entire thread a couple of weeks ago and got hooked. My boat is only 15 feet and I fish a lot by my self. Figured one set of Hi Teks would be enough, what the heck better order two and two extra mounting plate, 210 bucks. Two Okuma 20 Line Counters in the left hand model, 75 dollars. Two 12 foot BnM Trollers from Monk, 90 bucks. I have two quality Medium action bait casters that I'll use for now as my shorter rods. Figured I could get by with a dozen Bandits to start, what the heck better get 3 dozen $150.00. The lakes I fish here in Florida only average about 6 feet deep so I got mostly 200s but did get a dozen 300s. Read many suggestions to change the hooks out for Red ones, went and got hooks and a pair of split ring pliers. What a pain in the A$$. Took me 20 minutes to chagne one. I'm well into the Geezer category, my sight is not so good and my hands not real steady. Any tips on how to change the hooks a little faster? Planning on my first cranking trip next week if Hurrican Ellen doesn't mess things up to bad.
hope you get to go Glenn, sounds like you are ready to start!
Also, if your lakes are that shallow a few 100's won't hurt you none.
Ok I am going to ask a question here, I have watched Kent Driscoll 3 different times, cranking, and the way he figures his depth is different from what is posted on here. I used his formula today and started catching fish, which one is correct, there is a lot of difference the more line you have out. Not trying to start a war here guys, just trying to figure out this crankin stuff.
He says take the amount of line out, divide by 10, and add a foot, if you have 70 ft out that would mean 7ft plus 1 equals 8ft. Not sure what line he uses, he doesn't say I don't think, I will have to watch them again.
Can't get it to line up with my WP, maybe you can cifer it.

Thanks Tritonman, I will pick up a few 100s. I think my problem with the split rings are my pliers are too small. They are not making a big enough gap in the ring. Going to look for a bigger size today.
