I'm sitting here looking out the window at what is maybe 1/2 of the more than a foot of snow we're supposed to be getting and listening to the 40 mph wind find places that I couldn't when I was caulking. I'd like to ask this jbird just what happened to his global warming, given the week ahead of temps below 0...many for daytime hi's.

I posted the thread on Saturday. On Sunday I spent over 5 hours behind the snow blower clearing the 20+ inches of snow we got and yesterday the high temp for the day was a whoppin zero. Minus 11 right now at almost 8AM on Tuesday. They're predicting a balmy 7-9 above for today. The bumper car people are out in force already this morning. In less than a two block stretch I saw two cars trying to drive in the same space hit head on....this was on a residential truck route where each lane has been increased to 14 feet in width. The centerline was directly under each vehicle at impact. Figure that one out. And the street had been cleaned to the curbs! Only a couple blocks away two cars decided to play follow the leader and drove up onto a sidewalk thinking it was a driveway to a hospital. A cop at that mess was just shaking his head.
Gore's past comments about global warming have been pretty much "blanket" statements. Apparently the covers got pulled back from my corner of the world because the last thing we have here is any extra heat. We get our chilly air right off the iceburg called the polar ice cap and if we are cold here after that air has traveled a few thousand miles I'd assume its cold enough where it comes from to not allow much melting of the ice there. I'd like to invite Al to stop by in his Burmudas and muscle shirt complete with sandals and have an iced tea. I'd clear the picnic table for him and even make sure he has full exposure to the wonderful bright sun we have today. Its really hard for me to think of this as anything but a good old Minnesota winter, but leave it to someone with a brick short to say that we are in the midst of global warming when the normal high for today is right around twenty degrees and we'll fall about 11 degrees short of that.
Yesterday was the 1st day of winter and the snowfall total thus far in December for us in Rochester is now a new record. We're approaching the 40 inch mark with 11 days left in December. The forecast is calling for more snow by the weekend. Again.
