This picture was taking off of Lake of the woods a couple weeks ago, but I have fished upper red lake. The natives own the whole lower portion plus alot of the upper portion so theres not much room to get into them, but if you do its fantastic. A couple of years ago the lake was fantastic for crappie fishing because all of the walleyes had been commercial fished almost to extinction. So in turn the crappies thrived and grew to enormous sizes. 15 inchers was an average crappie for Red lake and anything less would usually be tossed back down the hole. Due to DNR restocking programs and no season for the past couple of years the walleye population is back on the upswing and fishing is outstanding. The Large crappies are still there, there just a little harder to find:D
