Default How did you all get started?

I was just wondering how you folks got your club started up. Seeing there is not a crappie club here in east TN I am poking around for interest and maybe some advice from an experienced club. Thanks alot and tight lines.

I moved to this area about 3 1/2 yrs ago expecting to find a crappie club in the area. Loads of bass clubs but not a single crappie club. After a few months I got acquainted with some of the local crappie fishermen and one day while fishin with one of them we talked about starting a new crappie club. We started out meeting in my garage and for a while we grew at a steady pace. We're not in a heavy populated area but we are still growing. It takes awhile for the word to get out and I have found that crappie fishermen are not as likely to join a club as bass fishermen. We meet once a month at a local diner and have monthly tournaments at one of the 3 lakes in the immediate area. For the first year our dues were $50 per year but now that we are established they are only $25 with a free club cap.
You can find more information on the club at Middle Tennessee Crappie Club
Good luck and I hope this was of some help

There was a bunch of us that always talked here, and many of them taught me how to adjust to the local ways. After meeting on the lakes so often, and talking so often, the subject came up and steadily gained ground. Still gaining ground and members all the time. Local get togethers would be a good start, A fish fry or something like that, and bring up the idea of a club while everyone is gathered.
