Just returned from a week fishing up north in Ontario. A group of guys I have fished with for around 30 yrs went for a week in Missanabie Ontario on Dog lake.
This time of the year the weather is usually very mild compared to our early spring trip. We had highs in the lower 70s during the day and lows in the 50s at night with minimal to no wind all week.
Even the bug situation is better then in the spring, but we had more visitors then in the spring. Each day we would have a bear visit. We identified at least 3 different bears but were told there are 12-13 different individuals that frequent the camp. Most passed thru looking for easy marks. But one particular morning around 5 am I was plugging in the coffee pot and heard one inside our cabins porch.
I put the flashlight on him, but that didn't really phase him until I hit the air horn we started keeping in the cabin. Outside of that excitement the fishing was great! We caught plenty of walleye in the 15-18 inch range for eating, releasing larger fish to do their thing next year.
We also caught pike, small mouth and perch.
