Default Hit a couple of new lakes

Saturday morning I went to Little Whitefish Lk in Montcalm Co for tge first time. Conditions were nice as its a no wake lake 7pm - 11am. Caught 20+ crappie trolling 1/16th ounce jigs with 2" triple ripple tails, but not a single one touched the 9" line on the ruler. No fish kept. There may be good fish in the lake, I'll let others pursue them.

This evening I took a friend to Martiny Flooding in Mecosta Co. I've fished this chain of lakes since '76 with my uncle mostly minnows under bobbers for pike or dunking worms for gills. Later in the mid 80s my Dad & his mother moved to a place on one of the channels. Up until his passing 9 years ago we almost exclusively trolled for pike. Now I've graduated to crappie.

We trolled the same jigs. No giants but plenty of eaters. I'll certainly be adding the place to my summer rotation and try other lakes in the chain.

I've heard good things about that chain of lakes, might have to make the 90 minute drive to fish it. There are a few others in that area that look interesting as well. Good job putting a few in the boat.

I have been on that chain a half a dozen times or so same as you, but never pulled jigs there. Really interesting body of water that has given up some decent fish and have heard of some really good ones coming out of there. Great job knocking a couple more lakes off your list!

Good to hear you are finding success! There should be a ding buster of a fish fry next spring!
