Thread: Assessing the damage

Thanks guys. Tomorrow I will start gathering parts to get this thing back on the road.

Got a couple of pictures of the U bolts that held my axle to the springs. What looks like a flat washer on the one is what's left of the last nut and was all that kept my axle from breaking loose from the spring. Looks like I ground off 1 1/4" of bolt plus part of the plate. I guess I had a little luck on my side. Who knows what kind of damage there would have been if the axle would have broke free on one side
