Early this year during and after ice fishing season my buddy and I tried to come up with as many excuses or reasons why.... couldn't we catch or find any crappie. After many conversations and thoughts, it was told to us that we just didn't have the touch , the know how or the skill set to slay slabs anymore. The reason was simply because we were blinded , addicted, just plum crazy over the walleye..... sounds about right but I know it's still in me to catch crappie. I think with a little time spent and going back to the basics, like a bobber , split shot and #6 tru turn gold hook, or a 1/16oz jig head w/ a bobby garland minnow fry bait, no high end electronics just simple depth, water temp, ohh that looks like a fish fish finder. The time spent after a long hard day at work, sitting on a cushion in a 14' aluminum with friends watching bobbers and slaying slabs......is priceless and are moments that will forever be remembered.![]()
These were the biggest of the night, we ended with 28, size ranged from 8-12.
