hugastump, my grandparents also had a cottage on Horsehead and as a kid my grandpa would take me up there every chance he could.
Grandpa passed in 1968 and Grandma sold it in 1976. They built the cottage in the early 60's. Little white ranch style with a attached garage and a boat garage behind that.
I remember a couple of the neighbors names. Jess Sathoff and Hank Vanotmel (sp) Grandpa was Clare Ash. Any chance you knew any of them?

    Thread hijack over........lol

    not sure, poor memory
I was bummed I couldn't make it when camp was there before, it sounds like a great place.
I'd vote to toss it in the hat for strong re consideration.

St helen has a small park and crappies. No website to contact, but I'll give em a ring and see what they have in the way of accoutrement for rvs.
The lake looks shallow and I think the fish would already be spawned out by the time we showed up.

Martiny chain in Barryton has several campgrounds and Six Lake Chain has one. I know it's not centrally located but the chain of lakes just west of Coldwater has multiple campgrounds and the Coldwater chain in Quincy has 3 or 4.

We held one of our camps at Waffle Farm CG on the Randall chain just west of Coldwater. Might well have been our first camp with good weather from what I recall.

I have never been to many of these fine lakes, but it's on my to do list.
    Apologies for the thread hijacking.
Any relation to Richard Slocum? He was a neighbor to my grandparents cabin on houghton lake?

We are currently looking at Rose Lake in Tustin. Not far off 131 and just south of Cadillac in Osceola County. Great park ran by the county, playground, beach, general store, mini golf, pavilions if needed, and a boat launch. Lake is 370 acreas. Sites have electric and some have water hook ups as well. Not sure about cabins.

You can check out the lake map on the DNR site as well as the park on the Osceola county site. Tell me what you think!

Been years since I have been there. Dad actually brought it up.
