Ok guys I need some help. Have a bunch of oak shelving that needs to have the old varnish removed so I can use the wood. What is the best way to go? Not going to strip too much wood.

    Speaking of oak and woodworking:

Current project is remodeling a 1876 2 story brick farmhouse. Changed a few walls to make a master bedroom, powder room and bathroom.

I am at the “re-install” and modify the old trim to make it look like it was the original.

Homeowners are pleased how it is coming together. I’m pleased that they are pleased......that’s how it’s supposed to go.

Gary, I opt for the easy way! Depending on what you will repurpose the wood for, I run it through my planer taking off 1/32nd on each pass on both sides. Much easier than stripping or sanding

    Christmas shopping for the Mrs.

It’s tough when she doesn’t want or need anything.....and gift cards seem the easy way out.

I do not want to go to Victoria’s Secret for, ....... you know. I did that once and it was embarrassing.

Get her some of those Duluth Trader undies. I saw on TV that if you wear them you can split wood in one swing, wrestle moose and grizzly bear, do tricks on a pommel horse and brass pole and conquer a pack of angry beaver. All good traits for a wife to have in my opinion. Maybe that's why I'm no longer married.

Conversation between me and the wife last night:

Me: you ARE buying gifts for yourself RIGHT?

Her: I pick what I want and send Abby in to get it.

    Me to Abby

Are you getting presents with mom?

No daddy. I like the anticipation of seeing a gift under the tree.

Me: you know that after Christmas you can get twice as much stuff for the same money?

Her: yes daddy, but gift cards suck!

    Me: how bout cash?

    Her: cash is good.
    And my shopping os complete

Did have to get something for Brian. But it was simple. Just got what I wanted. Never left my desk to order it.

SPF 850 Ultra Thick Water Proof, or was I not supposed to say anything?

Every one know what to get a Ginger for Christmas. If you don't get him that, how is he supposed to come over and see the Christmas tree lights without getting burnt........????????????

See Brian as a confident "Day Walker" BEFORE he arrives & Brian after you plug in the lights , minus the Present you got for him...............
