Fall fishing, Yes!!

Headed north for the weekend to help my parents with a few projects. On the way back, Brian and I were talking about how warm it was and the fact that neither of us wanted to sit in a tree stand. He said "we should go fishing". Although he doesn't come up with many great ideas, this one was one of his best. I even told him it was!
I searched the lake for several different schools of fish, marked them on my GPS and then slow trolled 1/16oz and 1/8 oz jigs tipped with minnows. Although I thought they would like the twisters and sliders today, they didn't. It felt like we caught a ton of fish but when we counted them in the livewell before transferring them to ice we only kept 14? I almost thought we had a hole in the livewell. That was until I remembered throwing a ton of fish back that for whatever reason didn't meet our standards for the day. I think we lost way more than we caught.
Kept 14 fish with the biggest two being 12 inches. Great day on the water, nice temperatures, and the lake all to myself.
I'm normally the one taking the pictures. Not often I post one of myself

John,
Just like the spring time, very few people on the water, no wave runners to deal with either.
Normally, I spend about 40 of the first 45 days in the woods. I don't like sitting in a treestand and sweating though. I'll leave that for the southern friends. I do need to make another trip out though. I had to send my HD structure scan unit back to Lowrance last week. They sent me a brand new unit so I need to test it to ensure it fixes the issue. I also have some crank baits to troll for some big female walleye. So much stuff to do and too little of time.
I always say I'm going to retire from wood cutting but the wind and weather always drop trees that I cannot find in my heart to let go to waste. I have a few loyal customers that still rely on the wood I cut. I love cutting it, hate dealing with it after that anymore.

You know the old saying: "If you don't like the weather in Michigan, wait 5 minutes". 33 degrees out this morning!
Saw one Coyote yesterday morning and one this morning on my way to work. Saw a buck running around in a field this morning. Yesterday was the opening of Coyote trapping. I had every intention of getting out of work early to get some traps in the ground. I have a few fawn killers on my property that need to go. Plus, I have six cameras that I need to pull cards on. Unfortunately, I ended up being the last one at work last night. Actually had to lock the doors when I left.
33 degrees and frost this morning. Would have been nice to be in the woods.

Don't you hate it when work gets in the way of the really important things in life?!!![]()
