Yes that's very true Steve. That's why we have a facilitator that ultimately makes the call. We tried the democratic method in the past and that proved to be a cluster. Mostly everyone has been fine with the decision made by the facilitator.

My concern on a smaller inland lake is crappie population and recreational power boaters and jet skiers. Just a thought. It is your pic Tim and everyone will support it.
yea sorry about that yankee doodler. didn't think about that.
Sorry I have not got back with the post, I went fishing a few days! Most of the input suggests that a smaller inland lake in the spring might not be the best.
I think going back to Sandy Beach at Hardy Dam will be best, their is I plenty of room to fish, and we had a nice turn out last time. Also our pets are welcome.
Thanks for the input on this part, do we want to do a fund raiser this time?
Good job deciding on a place, was there talk about what weekend
Sorry should have posted: June weekend of 10,11, 12 Thanks Jim
does any one have number to call to rent one of the cabins?
Here's a link, but I don't think you can reserve anything this early.

Don is correct, if memory serves me, it was about late February or March when I reserved my camping spot.
Sorry to say I won't be making it. I'll be in Moab Utah with the jeep that weekend(2weeks)
thank you yankee d
will do i think it would be a blast
I think Hardy is a great idea. Anyone know what kind of fish are in the top of the muskegon river at that time? :)
By the top, if you mean in the back water, really about the same as most back water impoundments. But the area is Big and you can fish big deep water on the Hardy dam end., or head up river and find lots of spots to get away from the traffic. Its a seven mile long pond. Hope to see you there.
I have fished there with Kevin a few times. I was talking below Croton dam. Are the steelhead still there or just Resident browns and Rainbows?
Eric, by the time spring camps arrived, the steelhead should all be gone. There is a good population of rainbow trout, smallmouth and walleye in the river. I have fished the Muskegon for 30 years and there is always something catch, but nothing as much fun as Kings and Steelhead.
Is it too early to ask questions?
Last year we had sponsors who gave away products.....we had a cause to donate to, sending kids to camp.
Will we be doing anything like that this year? Reason I ask is because I have a friend who makes a great fishing product that I would love to see get his name out to the public. It's already marketed in Minnesota and Wisconsin, I hope it gets into the stores in Michigan soon.
He is interested in giving to a cause that benefits kids, he would be happy to donate product to our camp if the proceeds benefit kids, especially to get kids involved in fishing.
Maybe a banner supporting his product displayed at camp would be all he asks in return.
Is there a way to make this happen at Spring camp?
Thanks for asking, any help is welcome , I was thinking of a donation to the wounded warriors, for a fishing trip, I will be looking into T shirts for the donation.
Tim,
Wounded warriors is an excellant idea. Let me know what you need. I have ties with wounded warriors program and several friends who activly participate in fund raising drives. Also have several friends that are charter captains for Walleye as well as Salmon.
Great idea to put the word out early. Might give us a chance to hit the pavement and get some sponsorship for this effort.
Would be cool if we could get Slab to get CDC shirts with something on them stating.... benefiting wounded warriors.
Let us know what you need, your plans, and how much help you want. One person might have a few connections, but adding several of us together is better.
Let me know what you need. I'll help out any way I can.
x2 on helping out if I can.
Don or Rich I was wondering where the cool shirts came from last year? Can we look into something like that?
Tim,
As it gets closer to the event, start a thread for "Spring Camp T-Shirts"
I always tried to do it around April timeframe with a completion date of May 1st. This gives plenty of time for Slab (Ed) to get the T-shirts made up.
Simply as for the number of shirts and sizes per person.
I always kept a copy of who ordered what.
Make sure to let everyone know of the price.
Ed will either send them to you (if he cannot make it) or will hand deliver them.
Might want to get up with him a little early and find out what he will need if you want to do something special.
Real simple and easy!
Thanks: I'll start with things after the new year, but would welcome any ideas, Happy Holidays.:santa
Additionally, if you want a specific phrase, logo, etc. on the shirts you need to make that clear also. If we are going to charge for the shirts you need to make sure any logos or trademarks are not violated.
I don't know if you already have a place in mind to do the shirts, perhaps someone has the artwork already submitted to a place that does shirts. If there is not a place that already has with the silk screen pattern, I could recommend where I've been getting my business shirts and hoodies done for 25 years.
Welcome to Genesis Graphics, Inc
Steve,
Ed has all the T-shirts made up through one of our members. On many occasions, he has donated the T-Shirts and then we use the money to offset costs of pavilions and other things at camp. Last year, we donated the money made from T-shirt sales back to Camp Newaygo.
I will however be checking out Genesis as I need to have some hoodies and T-shirts made up!
I know nothing has been set in stone yet, but I was going through and organizing/deleting items from my favorites file and found this link from last years spring camp to reserve your campground spot and wanted to pass it along in the event we do go back to Hardy.
