Don and Jim, they are open year around so if you can get up there let me know what you think. The only bad thing I don't like is the tree. Check out the sites I mentioned.

So I was snooping around Big Bend website and trying to coordinate the campground map to Bing and Google maps. The campground map is flipped sideways with north being on your left as you view it. According to their page with fees, you CANNOT pitch a tent in the section with sites 139-227 labeled "Trailer Park". Something tells me that might be more of a seasonal section anyway, but without emailing or talking to them I can't say for sure. If we are going to accommodate everyone, we need to be able to do tents also. There is only one cabin also, so that's not so good. Now I really think a road trip is in order.

Is this where you guys are talking about?
Fayette State Park Campground - Michigan Miles

Remember, we still have Sandy Beach in our back pockets! Along with Brower
Starting to sound like a mini fall get together :)
You guys could just come to Illinois for your camp and have it with us, we have lots of room at the campground and rooms nearby for those that don't want to camp. I know doodler can make it this far
I didn't know delivery was included with the present! :yikes
It was a valiant effort on your part. I'll say that! If I drank, it would have been worth a few cold ones!
Nothing yet. Been so busy at work and splitting wood, but just about done.

I was looking through some maps and found Coldwater Lake in Isabella county, any one fished this? It is in the middle of the state, 294 acres. By the town of Wiedman. I'll call the campground and see if they are still open.
The campground is closed however there is a office open 989 772 0911 ext. 340
No size limit on boats we can keep them on shore, they have four cabins for rent,I Googled Coldwater Lake Campgound, Maybe someone can post a link.
Tim,
That sounds good to me. Let me know what you come up with. I've never fished it before. Always fun to find and explore new places in my opinion. If you like it, I'm sure we will all like it!
Yall want me to pick? HAHAHA It would be on the southern half of the state for sure. lol
Here's the link to the campground: Coldwater Lake Family Park.
Here's the link to the policies: Camping Policies
I don't see that phone # listed but there are a few. Looks like a nice campground and has all the "reqs" that we need. I'm sure we will be good with whatever the majority wants.
Okay.......
I am really confused......
Are we talking about a spring fish camp for 2016? or a fall get together 2015?
Just north a bit.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte,_Michigan
We were close. Spent time in Elkhart last year. I just attended the fall Mississippi camp last weekend and heading to one in Florida at Lake Talquin this weekend. Looking forward to being up there next spring.
So once again my inquisitive mind prompted me to start looking around for info on the lake and fish, etc. Here's some stuff to ponder:
There are no entries in the Master Angler program for either species of crappie from Coldwater lake, but there is one in 2013 from Lake Isabella. None for walleye either although they have been stocked:
Summary of 2011 Walleye Plantings from rearing ponds in the Southern Lake Huron Fisheries Management Unit (Bay City)Coldwater Lake— Isabella County 33,618
According to the Isabella Co. Parks web page for Coldwater lake, there are Black Crappie in the lake. It shows a max. depth in the southwest end of the lake of 65 FOW. Just FYI.
Nice job researching Don.
Looks like a good candidate.
294 acres, fish species, black crappie, bluegill, brown bullhead, bowfin, carp, green sunfish, pumpkinseed sunfish, large and small mouth bass, pike, rock bass, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker, yellow bullhead.
Looks like we should be able to do some good fishing, although the report I was reading said that crappies were not the most abundant but a lot of walleyes were out their. Are we allowed to fry walleyes at a crappie camp? I have not checked if our four legged members are welcome, but I can check.
I don't see a tree in the boat launch either.
No, but I don't want to be the one to say I didn't warn you.

FISHING INFORMATION: Coldwater Lake has lots of decent
-size walleyes and plenty of largemouth and smallmouth bass
plus crappies, says Greg Clark of Schafers Bait and Sporting
Goods, 3222 N. Woodruff Road, Weidman, MI 48893, (989)
644-3501. A recent DNR report says this 294-acre lake also
has plenty of minnows, crayfish and log perch for those species,
plus the lakes panfish to dine on.
Clark says you also will find some 28- to 30-inch northern pike
here. The crappies run big, averaging about 12 inches, while the
walleyes run about 16 inches on average. The bass are in the 15-
inch length range. Dardevles and live sucker minnows often work
for attracting pike, and Clark suggests trying crawler harnesses
and Rapalas Fat Raps for bassand walleyes.
Start your search for walleyes near the river inlet on the west
end of the lake or on the edges of a weedbed north of the boat
launch (Spots 1). The eyes can also be found in deep waters
near the southeast end of the lake (Spot 2). Pay special
attention to the inside turn at the southeastern tip of that deep
hole.
The bay at the south end will also produce pike on many days
(Spot 3). Troll those spoons along the weedlines in, say, 10
feet of water. Look for bass around the points along the western
shore (Spots 4) and especially near the lake outlet on the
southwestern corner of the lake (Spot 5). Ice fishing
is usually good on this lake, with walleyes, pike and crappies
most often pulled through the ice. Put your first hole near a
sunken island just off from the boat launch (Spot 6).
Clark cautions that ice thickness varies widely on this lake. He
says youd best check with a local angler before you venture out
if you dont want to take an unscheduled bathor worse. Theres
a decent ramp in the county park and campground. A modest
fee is charged for launching.

Do you guys and gals think we should give this one a try?
My .02?
I got real interested in this lake with the word "Walleye"....my favorite fish next to perch for eating,
I already had it in my head to go ice fishing there this winter and try it again early spring, so I'm all for it to be a crappie camp choice.....however, I can never be that guy you can depend on to be at camp. I am independentanly employed and have a million things going on, so....if this is everyones choice, and I can get the time.....I'll be there, sounds like a good choice to me.
shot holloway res. has a camp ground with power and water, and a cove to park boats with a launch in the camp ground. and has some big crappie in it too and walleyes ;)
I've looked at Holloway in the past g6463. Originally from the east side. Not many choices in campgrounds that I can find unless you know of others on the water besides Wolverine which has a "no alcohol" regulation. That might not work for some. Just my take on it tho.
Boy....trying to pick out a spot is as big of a decision as when my wife was choosing a wedding dress....
