Thread: MICDC FALL CAMP PREVIEW

Here's some pics from our smaller Fall Camp at Pinckney SRA. The weather played it's part in forming the weekend with rain holding off long enough for us to hold a nice "Liars Club" on Friday night. Saturday morning it was still raining, but by late morning it started to clear out. The winds were pretty constant out of the west, and it did make the use of drift socks a must on some of the lakes in the chain.

Since Alboy facilitated this gathering I'll let him give you his side of the story.

Hey, nice catch fella's.

Being this was a "home" lake for us. We tried to do our very best to put people on the fish. The wind played a major role in our presentation and we had to change up or original plans as the wind would not allow for us to pitch light plastics in towards the weeds.

We located pods of fish holding at about 10ft down over 14 to 18 ft of water. This is very unusual for Woodburn lake. It is usually loaded with fish but they are scattered all over the place. This particular day was the first time I have ever seen them school in big numbers.

The fish wanted the bait moving. And they did not want a vertical presentation. Early in the morning, a size 1/8oz jig running about 12 foot gave you enough swing back to put the presentation in the fish's strike zone. As the day progressed, we switched over to long lining 1/16 oz jigs. Our best colors were in the green variety with chartreuse, lime green, and green chartreuse being the top colors. I attempted vertical jigging and I did catch one fish but spot lock didn't want to cooperate and I spent the next 5 minutes removing the prop on the trolling motor to untangle line.

I did long line soft plastics however the fish were light biting. The wind made it difficult to sense the bite and it was pushing the boat between .8 and 1.1mph. Minnows gave a better option but the key was to hold the rod in your hand and "chug" it every so often. We ended up keeping 22 fish. I also caught two pike including one really nice one that I should have kept for pickleing.

Man that looked great.Y'all got it going on!! Got to figure a way to get yankee in front of the lens.Did anyone take a picture of the food? That is a must down here.And I wanted to see the frog legs. LOL How long are the boats wick and Alboy were in? I'm helping a friend shop for one next month, when he retires.

Both Kevin and My boat is a 175 (Fishing Couple also have a 175). Kevin and Fishing couple both have a Lund Impact. I'm not sure on the exact length of their boat however mine (Alumacraft Competitor) is 17 feet 11 inches and has a 96 inch beam. Awesome boat in anything up to 4 foot seas. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I've fished more this year than ever before due to the avenues it opened up for me in other locations.

The 1775 Lund impacts are 17'9" long and 94" beam. As rich said very comfortable in 3-4footers,lots of storage, versatile boat.

I heard some fish mysteriously showed up in the back of Uncle Al's truck?
