Cray,

A ton of it translates. Nick and Bruce (owners of Off Shore) are both members of crappie dot com. They have been doing a ton of crappie fishing with planner boards as well as several successful guys on the crappie tours using them more and more.

I have a lake that I am waiting to hit and will be running some boards with different sized jigs. Similar to long lining except you use the boards to get you out to the side of the boat. Here in Michigan, the water is pretty clear. Spider rigging in a lot of our lakes doesn't work as well as in the south because the fish can see the boat.

I'll have a pretty good report when I make that trip. There is a lilly patch that extends from the bank to 12ft of water. I normally run my boat with long lines in about 16ft of water and cast to the lilies. By using planner boards it will allow me to extend my lines right next to those pads.
