Would be cool to go up their some day on a fishing outing, maybe something to think about?

Again thanks for the info. I will be headed over to the lake at the end of the month hopefully. I am sure the ice is almost out of there due to the warm water from the river. I am a little nervous about heading up river as I tried it last year but again was a little overwhelmed with all the stumps. I guess I just need to slow down and fish these little spots more thoroughly. Thinking I should maybe try some longer rods and get on the trolling motor and vertical jig these locations. Picking up new/used boat next week which has bow graph which should work better for this type of fishing I hope. Great walleye info also. I fish Platte, Long, Herring lake along with a couple of other lakes that hold a good number of walleye. Be happy to share some hot spots if your ever in the area.

Here is two walleye gems for you right in that neck of the woods. On the Mesick side of the dam, fish the hole on the river below the dam. Dusk until after dark. Number 5 floating rapalas in many colors. Same exact location on the other side of the river. I've caught two over 7 lbs in that area. The entire river from below the dam to about 2 river miles up from Red bridge is great for Browns and rainbows. Rainbows seem to come more in the slower waters as you get closer to red bridge. Many access points from south 1 rd off from Warfield on the Harrietta side, or from Upper River road on the Mesick side. Panther Mantins in number 4.... you only need four colors.
All silver body and silver blade, all gold body and gold blade, yellow body with red dots and silver blade, black body and yellow dots with a gold blade. Silver works best on some days, gold on others. Fish the rapids and slack water before and after the rapids.
Up by baxter bridge, head up river about a half mile (walking) You will come to a creek. Where that creek dumps into the river is a nice sandy hole. Fish number 5 rapalas in fire tiger or blue and white. Caught my best natural river brown out of this hole and some nice walleyes. Up river is a giant sand hill (accessible from a trail off the pinery). There is a nice rapids run that is good for trout. Just up from that, the river makes a bend. Stand on the bank so you are facing up river of the bend (down river to your left). You will see a stump, cast number 5 rapalas at that stump. Caught my limit in walleyes there in 5 casts one evening!

Wicklundrh is dead on with his reports. I am at Buckley, about 12 miles from Hodenpyle. The area above the dam is a flooded area that was hills valleys and trees.
You will find areas where you can come from 40' up to 8-10.
There are areas that the tree tops are just under water
This is also a big pike and bass lake. Don't over look drifting the deep water just southeast of the Northern Exposure with a crawler harness in late summer for walleye. Find the shallow spots (hill tops) next to the deep water for spring walleye & bass using a leech.
Watch me - I can do it again
I wondered when Ranger Bob would chime in!
