Hey guys, just 186,000 surface acres on Toledo Bend. There is an abundance of lakes down here, but the fishing has good and bad days, just like anywhere. Got a couple nice lakes in East Texas also. Lake Fork and Lake Sam Rayburn. Crappie1 here is a link with some info for you. Danny Toledo Bend Lake Information - Generating Schedule - Temperature - Lake Level - Etc.

And this is why our forum is the best on the internet for fishing (in my Opinion)!
I advertise and sell jigs on another site in Michigan (will not mention the name). I hate almost everything about any of the threads on this site because there are a ton of people that make sarcastic comments, snide remarks, and make it out like they are better than everyone else. You could comment about a specific bait you use and will have 10 people comment that they bait they use is better, they catch more fish and so on. It has gotten so bad that they have had several forum moderators quit within the last couple of weeks. Forums are allowed to go 8 to 10 pages before someone finally shuts them down.

Heck, I saw one yesterday that was speaking exactly to what I am talking about. The gentlemen was out of Saginaw and was talking about how great that site "used" to be. He had a following of about 6 pages of people agreeing with him but mixed in were stupid comments. I couldn't get to page six as it was taken down!

I love everything about this site because of the way everyone treats each other. We are "like minded" individuals. Yes, we are all fisherman and women however we carry ourselves to that regard at all times. This other sites members will claim to be sportsmen and women however, they do not meet the definition in every way, shape and form.

Ed has created a great thing here and I am proud to be a part of it.

Agree, Agree, Agree - Crappie.com is the BEST site on the web. It is a pleasure to log on and on lousy, windy, cold days like this I'm thrilled to be able to log on and surf. By the way back in the day (late 1060's) We lived in Keithville, LA and used to fish Toledo Bend / Sam Rayburn with my neighbor Eddie Ezernak. He took me there a few times not long after they flooded it and we would anchor over his grandfathers old barn and catch bass and bluegill like mad using catalpa worms off of his catalpa tree - great memories. I wonder if he is still around? If he is he's gotta be old - unlike me. Haha!

Hey Larry. We stayed at lake d'arbonne state park about 5years ago it was really nice area. We stayed in their cabin/cottages in the park. Fishing for us was ok, only because our promised boat loans fail thru so we had to bank fish. We still had a great time I did see some snakes going across the lake and I think I saw a alligator. The crappie were pretty big too so having a boat I'm sure would be a plus.

Yup Rich. Was on that site for a few months until it became evident it was not a place I cared to frequent. Haven't been back since.

Wish it weren't so far. I'd join y'all. Sound like we all in the same boat, so to speak. THANKS ED MOES!!!!! You da man!! Thanks Wick for those words, and Mav, I don't know why but Eddie's name sounds familiar. Back in the last part of the 60's and early 70's, the only way to not catch bass, bream or white perch(local for crappie) at Toledo Bend, was too just not fish. Man those were the days. And while I'm at it a shout out to yankee doodler, like reading what you have to say. And Alboy79, I appreciate your help around the holidays, thanks for starting this enjoyable thread.

Nice to have you hanging around "d". I would like to make it down and fish some of your fine waters one of these days. I'm working real hard and getting out of this thing they call "working for a living", and when I do, then the wife and I are going to follow Larry and Sandy south. See ya then.

    Kevin,

I'm up for any day that ends in "Y".

Maybe a Saturday afternoon over at Buffalo Wild wings close to your house (Cabelas in Grandville). I'm out for this Saturday as I have a daddy daughter dance to attend. Next week I'll be in Chicago doing that thing that everyone hates to mention (working).

Well, I got on here (Crappie.com) because of Don (YD) he kinda took me under his wing and got us going. I soon after met Ed. & Biilbob, Jimmy, Kevin, Steelguy, Eric, and the rest. We figured they were just about the best of the best. You can always get some kind of help or information on here. Ed is just a great person as are the rest of the folks on here. I also have been to that "other site". You can weigh a fish & measure it, post a picture, and have a dozen people tell you it's not what you say it is. You won't get that on here. This is the best site with the best people anywhere. Thanks to all of you.. Larry & Sandy.
