For many years I have gone up to da UP for the last few days of brook trout season. Unfortunately I had a serious fall several weeks ago and am still suffering the after effects. It's hard to beat brook trout in their spawning colors AND the kaliedoscope of leaf colors. The good Lord willing I'll be good to go next year.
Some of life's most precious memories take place in the presence of a fish.

So we loaded back othe trailer, pulled it back out, and watched it drain.
After that was all done, we put the plug in, and headed out fishing. In all the commotion, I left the life jackets and the tackle box in the truck.
Needless to say, it was one of those days...

Left the plug out of my old boat up at Lake Missaukee. Was by myself. Parked the truck and came back and had to rush to put the plug in. Couldn't get the boat back on the trailer so I bailed water (no bilge at the time). Once I got it down enough I was able to get the boat up on plane and pull the plug to drain the rest.
cleanest that boat had ever been!

I have, but, my drain plug is on the top of my kayak, so it really wasn't an issue.
However, one time, I did forget to tie the stringer on good, and when I went to put crappie number 25 on the stringer, it was no longer attached to my kayak. 24 nice specks, to the bottom of the lake. I like to think that someone snagged it later and got a good chuckle out of it.
It is not about the equipment you have to use,

I had something similar to that happen to me TWICE Frank. When I was young, my daddy took me to Tennessee every year to fish. On one trip we were anchored very close to a submerged tree and had some fish (walleyes and crappies I think?) on a metal stringer. When we motored up to leave the stringer snagged on a tree limb and pulled the stringer from the boat. It was gone in an instant.
Then last summer my grandson and I were fishing and had several keeper pike on the metal stringer. The kid then landed his personal best largemouth (21") and I told him I'd mount it for him. On the next stringer hook it went. When we got back to the dock for a "hero picture" the bass was missing. I was sure I clipped the hook on the stringer closed but apparently not. My grandson took it a better than I did.
