We just got safe ice yesterday on some of our lakes... Notice! I said "safe" ice! As if there is any really safe ice. Tried to go yesterday but my partner in crime had to work
I have OCD "Obsessive Crappie Disorder"
Something tells me i need a new Fishfinder and i will be able to catch more fish
liking the touch screens, probably go with my old standby Lowrance although i'm looking at Garmin
Anyone know someone using a Garmin
I believe the only negative part using a Garmin is you cant run contour lines with you TM

Garner also does not support any other mapping than their own..no 3rd party maps, Navionics, Lakemaster, etc ..must look at what lakes that you fish and see if Garmin has maps up to your standards..but you can make your own maps with their new charting app coming out soon..would be a good thing, if of course you need or want that sort of capability..the new Garmin's are quite impressive, and $$$, but all the new stuff is costly..as far as following contours, only Lakemaster maps followed..I have areas that I fish, that the LM map is crap..very generic..my Nav. are better in places, but Minn-Kota/Humminbird contour following couldn't be done..YMMV.........bill
Thaks Bill good information
I asked our electronic fish finder expert(BBG) this question and he told me to to stay with my Lowrance , I never mentioned Hummingbird so you folks running birds don't get riled up![]()
The bird is the word.....lol
I had the Helix 5 Combo. Didn't like it much. I have had several "Birds" that I did like. I have the old FL8 for ice fishing. Never any problems, and I can't hardly ice fish without it. Myself? If a unit shows the depth and the fish? A lot of the rest of it is just spending money. That's just my $.02 worth.

Upgraded to the fl-18 two years ago. What an improvement over my old fl-8! Never was able to see fish in deep water, say pushing 40' on Jordon, but the zoom shows everything. I couldn't be happier.
