Default They're starting to show up

It was a cold, rainy few hours on the water today but I did land a dozen in the 11-12" range. These crappies wouldn't move 1" from under a tree limb to take a minnie. I assumed the "plop" of the bobber would be enough to spook the fish so I opted to use the 9' noodle rod I had to gently swing the bait RIGHT TO the edge of the limbs. That was the way I caught every one of them. The females are loaded with eggs. The water temp was 51 degrees so the best is yet to come.

Niiiiice! Going to try to get out for a couple hours this evening after work if the weather is a bit better. Our house sits up on a hill about 150 yards from the lake and gives us a nice view of the water from our living room window. Sure is nice to see the lake whenever I want. One thing I really notice is the water clarity variations. I can see this morning that it is definitely dirtier than it was last week when I had the submersible camera out. But times like this, when I am working a lot and the weather just isn't ideal for kayak fishing, it can be tough looking out there, knowing that the fish are in, or coming in, and I just can't get out there. And to make things worse, my office at work looks over Houghton Lake. Maybe the rain will help keep a few guys off the lake today, or at least until I get home. Of course there is always tomorrow, afternoon, when I get back from taking our paintball team down to Fremont for their first tournament of the season. Ooops, sorry for rambling on. Just looking out my office window, wind is calm, slight rain falling. A little mist on the calm surface of Houghton Lake, and I haven't been fishing in a week. Great catch, thanks for sharing, and looking forward to see how the rest of the summer goes for you. Good fishing.

    Hey Frank,
It might have been calm and misty on HL at 6:30am, but I hauled the boss up there to shop at WalMart at noon and it was ugly...whitecaps and rain. I was going to take my grandson walleye fishing this evening but I'm too old to rock & roll. Knowudda mean?

Nice pics CT! Mama and I just about have the rig ready for Hudson Lake this coming week. I hope the weather will cooperate so we can get some fishing done. Will be interesting to see what the water temps are over there.
