If that chart is correct I would imagine most lakes are locked up pretty good right now. Ice was loud but we had me my brother and another buddy all sitting in my tent and we didnt fall in.

Eric, Look up "Smelt Speed Reels" online and you will swee what I am talking about.

Fished last night on a new lake. I took my neighbor (his second time ice fishing). It was not fast and furious but we did manage 19 Crappies. We lost way more than we caught but chalk that up to being new to it and not knowing the hook set or keeping ones line tight. He had a good time, we stayed warm, and that was all that matters. I normally don't have my phone/camera with me but I did last night.

    Thanks...
Larry, More and more I am finding that I like to fish them at night myself. You don't move around as much, can stay in a comfortable shack and sit on a comfortable chair. Even though the weather is cold right now, the fishing is hot. Two friends caught over 100 crappies the other night on Joslin lake. It was a "catch and release" night as they are now in a permanant shanty and can go anytime they want (they live on the lake). Tuesday, two of my buddies went to Cassidy lake (next to the prison boot camp). Caught 20 perch over 10 inches (before dark) and then stayed for Crappie. Last time I checked they had caught 40!

Currently i am trying to find every excuse I can to STAY at work and NOT go fishing. The things I SHOULD do, outweight the thing I WANT to do. I'm playing devils advocate though. Nice to have a job that I CAN take off when I want to.

I have 3 Reel Lites. that I had gotten from Bob Spare. He passed away a couple months ago. Still miss our chats on here, he was a great guy. Anyway, I'm going to bring one or two, to the Slabfest. I hope we can get in some night fishing. I wouldn't last long on your job!! I'd be gone more than I worked..
