If memory serves me, in 2008, Mercury had a recall on ALL of their coils.

I know of one dealership that would put the warrenty in on the motor and then only install a replacment for a bad pack and keep the rest to sell! That was pretty shady. In fact, it was the same dealer that wasn't telling customers that they were under recall and warrentied. He was selling them!!

They replaced them all because they were all made at the same time by the same place and all of them were prone to going bad. We had a tournament boat with a 150 on it and had the identicle issue. Hence my knowledge of the dealarship that "tried" to play his little game.
