Agree. Mine pictured above is a three step that extends well into the water. It looks flimsy but soon after I got it on I had a 335lb field tester try it several times with no problem. Gives me 125lb leeway for wet winter clothes.

I installed a three step folding ladder that mounts to the transom. I fish alone, in the cold with carharts. No way I'm climbing a roller motor worn manual tilt trim to get in the boat. Last summer took my son and 3 year old grandson fishing and swimming. All three of us had no problem getting back in the boat.

Question....if you install a ladder on your transom, which side, port or starboard? I'm thinking port side, since the transducer and anchor light could possibly interfere if mounted on the starboard.
    Thanks for your input.

I put mine on the port side and all of them I see on other boats are the same way.

I put mine on the starboard side. Planning to put a kicker on the port side. Plus the anchor light gives me light on the landing if I have to board in the dark.
