    Default Optimax 150 rough idle


    Funny how I took my previously fine running boat in for yearly service. Guy tells me I need plugs and my fuel pressure was 11 lbs low. So I changed plugs and fuel filter and he said he never seen on have fuel pressure just a little low it's usually way low and said since it was running fine don't worry about it. Took it out and it idles like crap and cuts off at slow trolling.however at high speeds it runs very well. What do you guys think thanks in advance.

    I would pull fuel sample first. Inspect for the presence of water in the fuel. Next I would check to see if the correct spark plugs were installed. If everything passes inspection, I'd jump straight to a compression test before looking any further. (The lower pressure is either related to the gauge being used to test or the pressure regulator. Those pumps are generally work or don't.)

    What year motor? I remember a certain year that had a recall on the coils.

    Also, check spark plug gap. I don't trust the hired help at most these shops. Curious to how they checked fuel pressure too?

    Not it sure who the checked the pressure but the year motor is 2006

    checked the plugs they were the right one also they said the compression was good on all cylinders. Changed the fuel filter and told me it was a milky color fuel in filter but the tank gas was ok.
