Thread: Help with lower unit

In the pic above what is the small hole in the upper left side if the gear housing? I was looking at a used pontoon today with a 60hp Bigfoot motor and this oil had some oil leaking out of it after I tilted the motor up and down.
i was wonder what the hole is for and why oil would be leaking out of it .

The hole is to allow water to drain. The oil is most likely unburned 2 stroke oil in the exhaust.
