I'm on my second as well (new boat).
I have a 140 Suzuki EFI on my new boat and love it. It is so quite that they actually had to add a stall indicator in the event the motor stalls.
I have also had a 40 Yamaha and have nothing bad to say about those either. I don't use very much fuel in either one. The nice part about efi (on both the Yamaha and Suzuki) no choke. Turn the key, fire it up. Every time. No cranking, no pulling, nothing.
Like others have said, they have come a long way in advancements since the first ones came out that were heavier and the HP ratings were not like the 2 strokes. I'll never own another 2 stroke

Go online and order a Tohatsu.
Sweet motor
Reasonable prices
I ordered a 9.8 Tohatsu from Discount Outboards |Tohatsu, Suzuki, Mercury & Nissan Outboards. They gave me an excellent price and quick shipping. No problems. However, I think the largest outboard they sell online is a 20 hp.
I wont get in on the 4 stroke vs 2 stroke debate, but will say that above anything else I would base my decision on who has the nearest and best dealer/service center in your area. Have not heard anything really bad on any of the motor brands lately. Especially in the smaller motors. And there are tons of 15-50 hp motors running the flats down here, so major concerns show pretty quick. Here is a pretty good on water comparison that is a few years old but gets the point across pretty well.

If I am not mistaken, Tohatsu makes the small (under 50) outboards for Mercury and Nissan. They made my 2000 model 25 Mercury 2 stroke and it was solid as a rock for 13 years until I sold the boat. I don't know if they also make Suzuki but have heard that they are excellent also.
