How many bearings has went bad on that side? You sure the axle aint bent?

Just buy a new hub and be done with it....probably cheaper in the long run and lest time consuming

Is the groove located where a seal rides on the spindle? If so, you are going to get water in the hub which will lead to bearing failure.

If you have a torsion axle with replaceable arms, a new arm is probably the best solution. If not, there are sleeves available that can cover the groove to give the seal a smooth surface to ride on.

Post a little more info about your trailer and the problem you are having and you'll get more answers.

Catfan is right if the groove is where the seal rides all you need is a easy sleeve. should be able to get them at an automotive parts place

thanks for info and suggestion the groove is located right under the back bearing.. i used the emory cloth to smooth everything out as good as i could just put another set of bearing on it, the seal has not been leaking i have checked it serval times i will look for that easy sleeve thanks agian for all the help

I am having the same problem. What is an easy sleeve? I bought two new hubs for my trailer. I too have a back bearing groove on my spindle. So what does the easy sleeve do?

It's a thin sleeve that covers the spindle giving a smooth surface for the seal to ride. Often called a wear sleeve.

If you have a UFP torsion axle trailer, it would probably be just as well to replace the trailing arm, but for other types the sleeve can save the day.

You can go to the bearing buddy website they sell an axle sleeve kit made for that very problem, if you don't solve the groove problem you'll continue to have bearing failures...
