    Default manual lift motor question

How can a 50-hp mecury outboard be tilted, if it does not have power tilt and trim? It has a pin and 2 hooks holding it in the down position. The pin could be remove each time, but its not practicale. I need it tilted to clear the curb.
    Thanks for any help

If you shift the motor into forward gear the two hooks will release from the pin that holds the motor down while in neaural and reverse so the motor won'tjump out of the water when trying to back up. It's released in forward incase you strike something underwater then the motor can jump up instead of getting torn off.
