its a round with a 7-pin to 4-flat. But it blew on my Mom and Dads H3 with their own plug as well. No swing tongue but the wires are old.

What kind of plug on wiring, round or flat. If round probably got wire shorting in plug if not you have a wire grounding some where on trailer or could be inside of light.

Bad ground will not blow a fuse UNLESS it is touching a hot to lights which would make you have a bad hotwire also. Like they said, I'd just rewire it.Buy a 50ft extension cord and use it in halves to run to both sides. You have running, brake/turn, and ground all in a durable sheath.
I ran my new wires through a piece of rubber hose for the last few feet toward the tongue end to keep vibration from vibrating through, or a hard tug from compromising the wire and causing problems later on. Might be overkill but it's a cheap insurance policy.
