    Where is the drain plug for the engine oil on a Mercury 40HP 4stroke? Also,how much oil to fill it up? Type of oil? It was bought new in 2007. Thanks in advance,Roger

    Left side. About 3 inches up from the anti-ventilation plate.

    Take a look at page 84 of the Maintenance Sheet for 40 HP 4 strokes.
