Most of the time I've been fishing during that situation, I've not had all that much luck catching fish from what I can remember. But I'm sure that situation alone isn't the whole story.

I don`t remember that one but one I do remember is time to Crappie fish when the Oak leaves are the size of a squirrels ear.

In addition to crappie, I also run a few lines for catfish in the MS River. I won't even bother to go until I've seen a dogwood tree bloom. However, once they bloom, it's on.

I've always thought that the "tales" about certain plants blooming or leafing out had something to do with the ground temperature ... which, like the lake water temperature, was due to the weather. May or may not be a coincidence, but even if it is, it's been known to be correct (now & then).

I do remember something about Dogwoods blooming as a signal that the White Bass run was starting, but not so much about the Crappie spawning.

Also heard that Crappie spawn generally start when there's 12.5 to 13hrs of daylight ... but that, too, is only a single factor in the overall scenario.

I always heard that the moon doesn't rise until the sun sets on a true full moon night.

Not totally sure is me , there are so many complexities involved in wildlife behaviors that it seems to me ,there is not really a guaranteed approach to all of it

More likely the amount of daylight and then the temperatures is my guess
