Made it to Texas! Time to catch something

Well my family and I made it to Texas 11 days ago. We are in a bnb until our manufactured home is finished.
Fished lake Hawkins, about 30 minutes north of Tyler, a few times without hooking a fish. Had a few bites but no real takers. Is hard to fish this spot from shore as the vegetation is thick and extends a good 50 feet. A few little pockets of open area.
Can't wait to find a spot and gives Bob's jigs a proper workout and catch some fish!
Probably head to the Hawkins dam soon and Tyler state park.

You're north of me about 90 miles or so, welcome to Texas!
Can't help with the fishing, I can't find 'em much in new water either.
Local guide says find 'em in standing timber in 20 feet of water, suspended around 9' deep, and starting to find them around bridge pylons for the fall bite. Good luck!

The skunk is off!

Got a crappie about 6 inches or so, a bluegill, a yellow belly sunfish and lost something that was about 20" and narrow. Wasn't a bass so thinking a chain pickerel or a catfish. Broke my line at the shore and wasn't quite light enough for a positive id. Hit the head of a nightcrawler right as I pulled it free of some weeds.

along the dam in 20 or so foot of water is my guess , parked about a foot off the bottom .....
hold your jig VERY still ....luck to ya
