Need advise. Here is my situation.
Live in south Louisiana.
8 acre lake/pond.
Have a aerator made from septic pump, air hose, and bladder.
Sunk in 8' of water, approximately 15' from my dock.
It runs 24/7 for past 4 years.
Creates a 5' circle of good aerated water flow'
Lots of small TF shad. Especially in the evening and night with my overhead lighting.
Lots of small bass busting the water, even doing flips and easy to catch.
Have caught Black Cappie (BC) and a few Whites over the years in this spot before the aerator is, but not so many after.
Afraid to unplug the pump because I don't want to lose the shad/food. It really draws them.
Question.
1) How to fish for the BC in the middle of the small bass? A shiner will not survive 30 seconds before the bass eat it. Even casting 10' away where the current slows down.
2) Do you think the BC are in the middle of the fray with the bass, or far away from the bubbles/current?
3) Could the BC be on bottom under the action?
4) What jig or bait would you try? Depth?
5) Would the current and bubbling interfere with the shallow spring spawn in this area?

8 acres is a pretty good size pond, they’re not anywhere away from the aeration?
Asking because my pond is much smaller with a good size fountain with lots of small bass and I catch good crappie away from the water feature.

I do fish other parts of the lake with some good results. Just the aerator is in my backyard.
Fishing from my dock.
