    Default Reel Therapy

It was time once again for some reel therapy and the crappie were calling my name. I had my trip planned out for the last 2 weeks and sure enough the night before chance of rain with possible thunderstorms shot up to 80% but as usual I couldn’t let that stop me. I arrived to one of my go to crappie catching spots rain falling with no end in sight. Thankfully the thunderstorms held off but the rain became heavier and with minimal crappie catching happening I decided to call it… I arrived home happy to have gone but disappointed with not enough for a good fish fry. My wife reminded me that the kids would be at vacation Bible school through the upcoming week and I decided instead of staying home alone I would try a redo trip and once I got off my shift at the firehouse it was off to try again at some crappie catching with good weather in sight.

I arrived and first shot under a dock THUMP crappie on! I immediately got excited and thought this is gonna be one of those days you come home with a limit. The water was chocolate milk colored from all the rain we have had but with the right colors I felt confident. I started off with a Zman baby ballerz in bumblebee color it was catching but the star of the show became a Bobby Garland itty bit mayfly in electric chicken.

I want to take some time and give a big thanks to Slab for sending out an outstanding prize pack a couple weeks ago from the crappie fishing go to lures for beginners contest. The hat paid off I enjoy having it in my collection and of course the slab sauce brought in the THUMPS! Thanks again Slab for your generosity.

of course one of the best parts of crappie fishing is the amazing flavor of these fish and I was blessed once again with a tasty meal. It was a good trip with a total of 10 keepers and much needed reel therapy. Thanks for reading be blessed and tight lines!

yeah the BG itty bit series have paid off for me in big ways the only complaint I have is their low durability. What’s your go to color?

Blue ice in itty mayfly, itty baby shad, and baby shad haha! I have the itty bit mayfly pecan cream. I’ve thought about monkey milk too
I haven’t been able to use it due to boat being in shop 8 weeks as of tomorrow (3.5 weeks to even look at it), the part for trim is on back order till who knows when. That has given me time to work on my masters though

I like to use a 1/64oz collarless jig with a sickle hook from simply crappie. Jig Heads - Simply Crappie
