Big Site Announcement....please read

As I mentioned in the below thread when “G” passed away back in January of 2022, “life is too short”.

So I have a couple announcements.


One is, I'm renaming the JMMA to DSMA. It henceforth (yeah I said henceforth) will be known as the David Shands Memorial Award. It is time to honor the man who really made Crappie.com what it is today. The heart and soul behind the “family friendly” theme of our great site. He worked so hard on this website, he was on it ALL THE TIME, other than when he slept. And he did not sleep but a couple hours a night. He kept us safe online, and its for these two reasons that I make the following announcement of the 2024 DSMA recipient.


The recipient is not one person, no one person could fill “G”s shoes. In my eyes, this site survived “G”s passing because of the following three individuals. They came on board as Super Mods when David passed and helped fill a very large hole. A hole left in my life, and a hole left here on crappie.com after his passing.


I want to take nothing away from our other Super Mods, who have contributed greatly, and continue to contribute every day (I have something for them to be announced shortly), but these three new Super Mods picked up and carried the fallen torch which “G” held on to for so many years. Without each and every one of our supermods, I'm not sure I would have been able to hang on. It's been rough.


But here we are, together we made it, and will continue to run the best Family Friendly Fishing website on the planet. I would like to honor BuckeyeCrappie, SuperDave336 and DockShootinJack.


DockshootinJack reviews and approves all new members to the site, ensuring we have no spammers. SuperDave336 (I'm pretty sure) reads every single post, and ensures family friendliness. BuckeyeCrappie identifies the articles for the home page and so much more behind the scenes. And this all just scratches the surface, they do much more than that. They have been wonderful friends for me and the site. They actively promote the values David Shands impressed upon the site. I want to thank each of them by providing them this three pound DSMA award made by my wife though much trial and error. Hence the reason this has taken two months into 2025 to announce a 2024 award! Thank you all for your patience and your participation here. Family Friendly Forever.

These trophies have flaws, lots of them. They are each one of a kind, for one of a kind people. Each flaw gives it character. The first three wifey made did not work out, so we tried and tried again. That's why I am so late in announcing the winners. They were not aware of what I was up to, and they were bugging me to make an announcement for months. I left them hanging, but I hope this makes up for it! Again, they filled "G"'s shoes, "G" too would have bugged me, he was a stickler and would text me persistently until I did my job. We miss you "G". I finally did my job.
