Hardly any of my local lakes have bait shops to get minnows. My favorite place is 25 miles on the other side of Dallas from me. The owner sells minnows by 1/2 or a full pound. It's making the trip during the spring because I can store my unused minnows at home until the next trip. This does not work as well during the other months.

A bait I’ve been fishing with for a number of years. The Ring Kick Tail. It is made by Cultiva, Which is a brand owned by Owner Hooks. It is infused with shrimp and small bait fish. I have caught as many as 100 crappie in a day on one bait. Tough as nails, which is surprising since it is infused with scent attractant. Not sure if it is still available in the US or not. For a while it was sold by a crappie.com member who had a JDM tackle website out of New York. When fish hit this thing they don’t let go. I still have a few packs. Last time I used one was on Lake Poinsett, AR back in October. Boated over 100 crappie that day.

Another company you don’t hear too much about is Midsouth Tackle in Jonesboro Arkansas. They make a very good/ tough tube jig and minnow head jig heads that fit like a glove.
( exposed head ) . You have to call them to use a credit card.

I've bought bass baits from them & liked them, but never knew they sold crappie lures.

Crappie tubes, jig heads and some blue gill lures is all I see on the web site
I just ordered about 200 tubes. The spawn will be here soon

Didn't think I could be successful with jigs but all I use now. Just cast out and let sink to desired depth then slowly reel in and most times you'll feel a distinct thump, not a tap tap like bluegill or bass can do. Other times you'll see the line start moving one way or it will go slack where they're striking up on the bait. An UL setup will help you feel bites better. Get some 1/32 and 1/16 jig heads, some 1.5 inch tubes and some Bobby Garland baby shads in monkey milk. Order some slab sauce to go on the plastics to attract the fish. Good luck

Edit: "Attractants" can affect any sense of the fish, sight, smell, taste, and vibrations to their lateral line

Yes, it should help. No need to drown the lure in it, just put a good smearing on it. I add attractant after every fish I catch unless theres some still on it to help cover their "breath"

Bass Pro makes a bait really similar to this one.
