    Default Got my son hooked

I normally chase trout in small streams, but today I had the hankering for some crappie and bluegill chasing. Took my 6yo along and he had his best day fishing so far! Around 15 fish for him, mostly crappie in the 7” range with some bluegill thrown in. He says he wants my setup because it’s “better” so I might have to do some shopping! My setup was a TFO 6’ trout and panfish with a Symetre 500. His is an eagle claw trout rod with a Daiwa underspin

You need to invest in your little fishing buddies gear. Thats a good rod if I say so myself. Hopefully he’ll be fishing many more years with you.

This setup will probably be headed to him moving forward. The next rod/reel research begins!

That Johnson Century is what I started with back in the early 70's. My dad was a huge fan of Virgil Ward.

I got a pile of old Johnson reels on eBay for cheap. The century and the sidewinder are both getting back into use. So much fun, although infuriating at times
